Veteran bassist, songwriter, and producer Jerome Lee continues to showcase his decades of musical experience with the release of his instrumental single, “New Amsterdam Groove.” With a career spanning more than forty years, Lee has collaborated with an impressive range of artists across jazz, funk, soul, rock, and blues, performing in major cities around the world including Amsterdam, New York City, Tokyo, London, and Los Angeles.
Inspired by his years living and performing in both Amsterdam and New York City — once known as New Amsterdam — the track reflects the energy, rhythm, and atmosphere of both iconic cities. Originally written in the late 1990s while living in The Netherlands, the song was finally recorded during the 2020–2021 pandemic quarantine period.
“New Amsterdam Groove” blends funk, progressive rock, and jazz into a cinematic instrumental experience filled with vibrant musicianship and dynamic arrangements. The recording features contributions from acclaimed artists including Jim Wheeler, Johnny Hyatt, Marco Toro, and Timmy Foxxe, while Lee himself handled bass performances, programming, mixing, and mastering.
Accompanied by an official video edited by Phil Varone, the single highlights Jerome Lee’s enduring creativity and passion for musical storytelling.
