Providence, Rhode Island-based singer-songwriter and pianist Sydney Sharp returns with “Run,” the fifth single from her upcoming album Resonate. Released on August 20, 2026, the track blends Afrobeat-inspired rhythms, soulful R&B vocals, and thoughtful songwriting to explore the complicated emotions that can arise when intimacy and vulnerability enter a relationship.
Inspired by a frustrating yet beautiful romantic experience, “Run” focuses on the familiar push-and-pull dynamic that can occur when one partner retreats in response to deeper emotional connection. The song’s upbeat production moves between whimsical and powerful Afrobeat textures, while Sharp’s rich vocal tone delivers the lyrics with precision and emotional weight.
The track was created in collaboration with musician, producer, engineer, and Grammy contender Alex Enamorado, who used an Akai MPC to build the song’s vibrant layers and textures. The pair have previously worked together on several tracks for Resonate.
Sharp’s musical journey began with piano recitals and choir performances in kindergarten before developing into classical piano and pop songwriting.
