Ship Says Om and Emma Lucia join creative forces on “Water Prayer,” the first single from their collaborative EP, Djuphjärtad. Both active members of the Berkeley, California music community, the duo developed the project after Lucia invited Mason of Ship Says Om to reimagine her songs with a more atmospheric and experimental approach.
The EP flows between two distinct themes: intimate songs of romantic anticipation, including “Keep Me” and “Feel Your Eyes,” and meditative, nature-inspired compositions such as the Swedish-language “Ditt Hjärta” and the wordless “Water Prayer.” The music is built around a rich palette of found sounds, including birdsong, wind, thunder, rustling trees, owls, and the rhythmic movement of oars through water. These natural elements blend seamlessly with ambient synthesizers, acoustic guitar, piano, and subtle percussion.
Emma Lucia’s warm, expressive vocals combine beautifully with Ship Says Om’s immersive production, creating a listening experience that feels both peaceful and deeply emotional. Inspired by artists such as Stina Nordenstam, Hiroshi Yoshimura, Philip Glass, and The Books, “Water Prayer” offers a reflective journey through nature, love, and quiet moments of connection.
