Based in Shawnee, Kansas, Boettcher uses heartfelt lyrics and uplifting melodies to remind believers that trials are not meant to defeat them but to strengthen their faith.
Inspired by Isaiah 64:8, the song compares God’s work in our lives to both a potter shaping clay and a blacksmith refining metal in a blazing forge. Through vivid imagery of sparks, flames, and ashes, Sparks in the Struggle illustrates how God transforms pain into hope and hardship into spiritual growth.
Boettcher explains that she wrote the song to encourage people to see their struggles as opportunities for God to build something stronger within them, even when the outcome is not yet visible.
