ZILY’S VOICE RISES WITH “ZAMA” AND WOMEX SELECTION

42

With her new single “Zama (Uncle)”, Zily, a rising artist from the Indian Ocean, delivers a powerful and poetic statement that blends language, memory, and resistance. Rooted in her native Mayotte and of Malagasy heritage, Zily creates music that transcends borders. Over vibrant Amapiano rhythms from South Africa, she weaves together Shimaoré, Kibushi, and a message that resonates deeply: “Uncle, where are you? The time has come. You must wake up.”

More than just a song,“Zama” is a musical manifesto, a call for generational awareness, cultural affirmation, and emotional connection. With her unique voice and infectious energy, Zily continues to shine a spotlight on the cultures of Mayotte and the wider Indian Ocean.

Already well known in her region for her cultural and artistic commitment, Zily has been shaping a sound that is both deeply rooted and boldly contemporary. Following the success of “Tsika” and“Amani”,“Zama” marks the next chapter in her artistic rise, as she continues to expand her reach from Mayotte to the world.

“I want to meet other cultures, share my own, bring our languages, our instruments, our sounds together,” she said during a recent recording session for her upcoming album.

In a major step forward, Zily has also been officially selected for the WOMEX 2025 Official Showcase.

This recognition reflects the strength of her full artistic vision and her growing international presence.

The Worldwide Music Expo (WOMEX) will take place from October 22 to 26, 2025, in Finland. It is the world’s leading gathering for global music professionals, attracting more than 2,600 delegates from over 90 countries. The program features concert showcases, industry panels, film screenings, networking sessions, and a major international trade fair.

With over 86 million video views, growing visibility on international stages, and a debut album on the way, Zily is asserting herself as a dynamic new ambassador for the cultural richness of the Indian Ocean. She is scheduled to perform soon in Mayotte and other regional venues before heading to Europe and WOMEX 2025.
