OHNomad introduces The Awakening II, a captivating solo piano work that serves as the first thematic variation in his upcoming ten-movement suite. Loosely inspired by the structural flow of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, the piece reflects one of OHNomad’s most profound musical influences while carving its own imaginative path.
The Awakening II tells the beginning of a mystical journey—a soul drifting between consciousness and unconsciousness, crossing fluid boundaries of perception and reality. As the senses awaken, the traveler moves through multiverses, each one a shimmering shard of infinite possibility. In a brief but powerful encounter, he faces another version of himself, at once strange and deeply familiar. This moment ignites the start of an odyssey that transcends time, space, and identity.
The piece is performed by acclaimed pianist Chi-Jo Lee, a longtime collaborator of OHNomad featured on works such as Places of Origin, Danielle, and Rosenwald. The recording took place on July 1st, 2025, at Allegro Recordings under the expert engineering of Grammy Award winner Matthew Snyder.
With The Awakening II, OHNomad opens the door to a sweeping musical universe—one that promises depth, emotion, and boundless imagination.
