Abandoning Alice was formed from the numerous hours of watching political talking heads and unbelievable news headlines for the past six months. The lyrics captures the severe disorientation that a regular citizen feels, no matter what side of the political spectrum they’re on.
Jenny was writing lyrics when her husband played her a guitar riff he’d been working on. Instantly the lyrics found a musical home. They brought in their friend Marco Moir, writer of “Lover A Lot” (by Aerosmith), to beef up the music and arrangement, and “Abandoning Alice” is the result of that.
Singer-songwriter Jenny James is the essence of an artist whose drive can be paired with the talent to make something truly special come out of it. Her unrelenting devotion to expressing herself through both song and paint has produced beautiful work that lets her humorous and relatable character shine through.
