Abandoning Alice was formed from the numerous hours of watching political talking heads and unbelievable news headlines for the past six months. The lyrics captures the severe disorientation that a regular citizen feels, no matter what side of the political spectrum they’re on.
Jenny was writing lyrics when her husband played her a guitar riff he’d been working on. Instantly the lyrics found a musical home. They brought in their friend Marco Moir, writer of “Lover A Lot” (by Aerosmith), to beef up the music and arrangement, and “Abandoning Alice” is the result of that.
Singer-songwriter Jenny James is the essence of an artist whose drive can be paired with the talent to make something truly special come out of it.
