HAKUNA PATATA Unveils “Makossa” — A Global Groove Rooted in 40 Years of Musical Passion

35

Brussels-based musician Bart PJ returns with “Makossa,” a vibrant new release that captures the spirit of world music through a rich fusion of styles. With more than four decades of experience, Bart’s musical journey has been shaped by an open-minded love for reggae, dub, funk, soukous, Afrobeat, Latin rhythms, dance, surf rock, samba, and more. His curiosity and global influences shine through in every project he creates — including his long-running creative venture, HAKUNA PATATA.

A former record store employee and DJ, Bart picked up the bass and guitar at 14, eventually joining bands and evolving into an amateur multi-instrumentalist and producer. Today, his home studio is the heart of his craft, where he records, arranges, and shapes his sound with care. When needed, he collaborates with musicians worldwide to enrich his musical landscapes.

“Makossa” is a feel-good track built on funky grooves, Afro-dance energy, and subtle reggae-dub touches. Drawing inspiration from icons like Manu Dibango and Fela Kuti, the song blends old-school flair with modern global vibes. It’s joyful, rhythmic, and unmistakably Bart — a celebration of the world’s sounds filtered through decades of passion.
