Izé Teixeira is a French–Cape Verdean singerborn on the island of Santiago in Cape Verde. His career began in 1998 when he was discovered by José Da Silva, the renowned producer behind Cesária Évora. That same year, he released his first single and collaborated with Stomy Bugsy on the track Ho lé lé lé (Cabo Verde).
He continued to build momentum with the release of his first maxi Ma Volonté in 2000, followed by several albums including Double Nationalidade (2001), Mobilizé (2003), and Kunana Spirit (2007). In 2011, he introduced Urb’Africa, an album blending Cape Verdean roots with R&B and rap influences.
Izé has taken part in numerous collaborations, appearing on Alain Mabanckou’s Black Bazar in 2013 and on compilations such as Dealeur de Zouk and Afro Love Kizomba in 2014. He later founded his own label, I.T.F.A., merging music and fashion, and working with artists like Gemitaiz and Safira Robens.
As a member of the collective MC Malcriado, he contributed to two albums alongside artists including Mayra Andrade and Ferro Gaita. Currently, he is developing a new album with lyricist Princisito and exploring fresh collaborations that blend tradition with modern sounds. Beyond music, Izé is also active as an actor and fashion model, known for his lively and charismatic stage presence.
