“Dying Day” is the eighth release for songwriter and recording artist Neil Armstrong, since launch of his debut album “Nearly Life” in 2020. “Dying Day” launches on back of the successes of Neil’s 2024 single releases “In The Borderlands” and will be accompanied by a music video directed by Spanish Director David Guillen for launch next month.
The lyrics were born from listening to a podcast about black holes. Impressed by the language of the vastness of space and the end of time, Neil was inspired to write about life’s inevitable endings and saying goodbye with grace.
This is an upbeat but evocative electro-pop song — introspective, atmospheric, and laced with poetic imagery. The lyrics of “Dying Day” are deeply emotional and resonate with fans of reflective synth-pop and modern storytelling in music. Neil takes inspiration from 80s new wave acts such as Tears For Fears and Howard Jones, and leans into a nostalgic 80s tonality in the instrumentation and vocal.
Peer reviews have sung praises of “Dying Day”, highlighting its cinematic textures and lyrical depth. With lyrics such as “Just as the moon faces the sun / When the dying day is done / We all turn to face the light and burn”, reveals
Neil’s poetic sensibility and spiritual undertones, wrapped in synth-led, modern-retro soundscapes.
