Canadian alt-country duo Rivertown are steadily building attention with a sound that blends heartfelt songwriting and modern country influences. The project features singer-songwriter Jennifer Carswell on vocals, acoustic guitar, and keyboards, alongside songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Eddie Krajsek, who contributes acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and percussion.
The name Rivertown reflects the duo’s easy country vibe and pays tribute to Maple Ridge, where they are based, as well as Carswell’s small island hometown. Their music blends country, pop, rock, and Canadiana, creating a sound marked by driving acoustic rhythms, soaring electric guitar melodies, and Carswell’s soft, expressive vocals. Their songs often feel both reflective and uplifting, moving between melancholic storytelling and warm, hopeful melodies.
Krajsek has played guitar since the age of five and previously performed in several bands, including the Vancouver rock group 7% Distortion. Carswell, an accomplished pianist, was inspired to write songs after discovering the music of Gordon Lightfoot and the country-rock sound of Blue Rodeo.
After releasing several singles, Rivertown are now working in the studio on their debut album, which is expected to arrive in late 2026.
