Paris-based Macedonian vocalist and composer Aneta George unveils her fifth album, Eclipses, A deeply personal project, the album transforms grief into sonic expression, inspired by the loss of her beloved dog. Each composition became a therapeutic journey, channeling raw emotion into intricate musical storytelling.
In a unique creative approach, George coordinated the recording sessions with two major celestial events in 2024—a total solar and lunar eclipse—to capture their energy within the music. The eight-track album spans reflective and celebratory moods: the Solar Eclipse sessions produced contemplative pieces like Truth and Echoes, while also blending Macedonian dance with jazz improvisation in Denis Oro. The Lunar Eclipse sessions introduced energetic tracks such as Wake Up and Rollercoaster, alongside heartfelt homages like Ne Si Go Prodavaj Koljo Cifligot and the drum-and-bass-infused Dharma, exploring life’s search for purpose.
Collaborating with members of Magic Malik’s ensemble and drawing inspiration from conversations with Steve Coleman, George delivers a transformative experience that balances human vulnerability with cosmic wonder. Eclipses is more than an album—it’s a sonic ritual of grief, healing, and devotion, offering listeners a profound soundtrack for reflection and connection.
