Americana singer-songwriter Andy Branton will release his brand-new single “Front Porch Pickin’ a heartfelt ode to his rural Alabama roots and the simple joys of playing music for an unlikely but loyal audience—cows.
Branton, who grew up on a cattle farm surrounded by fields and gravel roads, recalls summer evenings spent on the front porch, strumming his guitar for the herd. “Cows make a great audience,” he laughs. “They moo when you do something really good, and they moo in sympathy when you make a mistake. They’re great listeners.”
That mix of humor, heart, and nostalgia inspired Branton and co-writer Cat Vining to pen “Front Porch Pickin’. ” The single blends warm storytelling with a touch of classic rock influence, nodding to Eddie Cochran’s “Summertime Blues” while reflecting on how time and change shape memory. “Sometimes in all the noise of trying to make a career in music, I get nostalgic for that front porch,” says Branton. “A song can’t take you back forever, but it can take you way back.”
Branton first made waves with his debut EP, 47 Minutes Away, which showcased his raw, authentic voice and deeply personal songwriting. Honing his craft in the West Alabama bar scene—where he performed in both country and rock & roll bands—he developed a distinctive style rooted in grit, sincerity, and Americana storytelling.
