UK folk/alt-country artist The Far North, the stage name of singer-songwriter Lee Wylding, is set to release his third album, Songs For Weathering Storms, on November 21 via Red Lantern Records. The album will be preceded by the lead single, “Mountain Song,” arriving October 31.
Formed in 2020 after Wylding disbanded UK Americana outfit The Fireflys, The Far North made an immediate impact with his debut, Songs For Gentle Souls, produced by Nigel Stonier, which reached #1 on iTunes and Amazon. His sophomore release, Songs For Healing Hearts (2023), further established his reputation with festival appearances and critical acclaim.
This new collection is described by Wylding as his most emotional yet, exploring love, loss, hope, and even animal rights, as heard in the upbeat, acoustic-driven track Release/Repeat. Mountain Song, inspired by a painful breakup, transforms melancholy into joy with a soaring violin coda. Other tracks, including Ship Of Bones, I Am The Storm, and Hummingbird, focus on resilience and looking toward brighter days.
Influenced by artists like Dallas Green (City & Colour), Neil Young, Uncle Tupelo, and Bruce Springsteen, the album features intimate, drum-free production. Songs For Weathering Storms will be available on all streaming platforms, with select UK performances scheduled through Autumn and Winter 2025–26.
