Out of the Whirlwind Shares a Joyful Message of Faith With “Until Jesus Taught Me to Love”

Chicago-based Christian band Out of the Whirlwind brings an upbeat and inspirational message with its single “Until Jesus Taught Me to Love.” Written by keyboard player Larry Blake, the song explores how faith can transform the way people understand love, compassion, and their relationships with others.

The track features a distinctive musical style influenced by the sound of Fats Waller, along with a sweet saxophone solo from Suzanne Grzanna. According to founding member John Ludwig, the song reflects on the consequences of having the right or wrong teacher and the lessons that shape our lives.

Out of the Whirlwind describes its sound as “nouveau gospel,” blending traditional gospel with jazz, blues, contemporary Christian, funk, R&B, rock, folk, zydeco, and country influences. This diverse approach reflects the musicians’ broad backgrounds while connecting with Chicago’s rich gospel heritage.

Formed in 2022, the six-member ensemble begins its performances with prayer and remains committed to sharing the Gospel through music. With “Until Jesus Taught Me to Love,” the band delivers a joyful reminder of the power of faith, love, and hope.
