Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Stephen McCafferty continues an exciting 2026 with the release of his new single, “Never Up,” arriving July 31, just one day before his debut at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.
Following his earlier single “Debt Collectors,” “Never Up” continues McCafferty’s exploration of performed identity, power, and the cultural expectations that influence everyday life. His songwriting frequently examines class, work, relationships, and the search for meaning, combining thoughtful observations with warmth, wit, and honesty.
The new single was recorded at Slate Room Studio with Garry Boyle and mastered by Stuart Hamilton at Castlesound Studio. McCafferty is joined by Shaun Ludlow on drums, Dario Ferrante on bass, and Alan Barbour on electric guitar, while he contributes vocals, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar.
McCafferty’s career has been gaining significant recognition. His debut album, “Monsters and Lullabies,” was named Album of the Year by Real Gone in 2025, while “Debt Collectors” won the public vote on Charlie Ashcroft’s Audition show on Amazing Radio.
With appearances at Mo’Fest, Scotland Trending, and Solas Festival already under his belt this year, “Never Up” marks another important step in McCafferty’s growing musical journey.
